Strengthening SPS capacity in the shellfish sector in Senegal
The purpose of this PPG is to develop a project proposal to address SPS challenges in the shellfish value chain in Senegal, with the aim of developing export markets and contributing to the protection of public health. The PPG will help to identify SPS needs and challenges encountered throughout the shellfish value chain, analyse the legislative framework, conduct research on regional and international market development strategies and formulate a project proposal accordingly. The resulting project will target the following areas:
- Adoption of adequate regulations related to the sanitary characterization of production areas, monitoring and control practices;
- Strengthening the capacity of different stakeholders along the value chain, on Good Hygiene Practices (GHP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP);
- Improving market access with better knowledge on international requirements (i.e. Codex standards).
