Boosting SPS compliance in food of animal origin and feed in Afghanistan

The purpose of this PPG is to develop a project to begin monitoring the levels of residues and contaminants in food of animal origin and feed in Afghanistan. The project to be formulated will focus on the development and implementation of a National Residues and Contaminants Monitoring plan. The plan will make reference to the maximum residues levels (MLRs) and maximum levels (MLs) as defined by the Codex Alimentarius for (i) Residues of Veterinary Drugs in food of animal origin; (ii) Residues of pesticides in feed for animals; (iii) Contaminants in food of animal origin and feed for animals; and (iv) Microbiological standards for meat, milk, eggs and honey-bees. The collected data would contribute to the establishment of clear and transparent rules for the import and export of these products.
