This project preparation grant (PPG) engaged both public and private stakeholders to apply the STDF Prioritizing SPS Investments for Market Access (P-IMA) framework in Bangladesh. The aim was to identify and prioritize various needs for capacity building in the Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) sector and to inform evidence-based decision-making at the national level.Â
The PPG developed a collaborative and scalable project proposal based on economic data, focusing on SPS investments within the horticulture sector, which has significant untapped export potential. This initiative is expected to enhance food safety and plant health capacity in the country, raise awareness among public and private sectors about the benefits of SPS capacity building, and improve market access for smallholder farmers through better market linkages.
