Reducing histamines in pole and line caught tuna in Indonesia

The PPG aims to conduct a feasibility study to assess Indonesian fisheries with relatively high levels of histamine in tuna at landing and identify corrective measures for fish handling and cold-chain practices. In addition the  PPG will develop a project proposal with activities to prevent high histamine levels for artisanal one-by-one tuna fisheries. The potential project activities include experiential training in fishing and harvest handling best practices - and implementing strategic structural improvements to vessels and their operations to facilitate and maintain an efficient cold chain.
