The PPG requested by the Spices Board India aimed to take stock of the SPS elements of ongoing and planned projects supporting the spices value chain, including ongoing Codex Alimentarius work on spices , and identify critical SPS capacity building needs, gaps and possible synergies with other ongoing/planned activities. The PPG led to a comprehensive project proposal to address SPS capacity building needs in the supply chain (production, post-harvesting, processing and trading) of six key spices (chillies, peppers, coriander, cumin, fennel and nutmeg) to boost exports.
