Women play critical roles across agri-food value chains, including in production, processing, inspection, certification and cross-border trade. Yet, evidence shows that women often face disproportionate barriers to comply with sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) measures, including limited access to information, finance, training, and certification services, as well as higher compliance costs and procedural obstacles at borders.1

Recognizing these challenges, STDF's global partnership has catalysed more inclusive approaches to SPS capacity development, ensuring that women and men can benefit equally so that trade reaches more people and supports the Sustainable Development Goals. Gender-responsive approaches in STDF-funded projects have helped improve compliance outcomes, expand market access, and ensure that the benefits of safe trade reach both women and men.

This webinar will present the results of STDF, CABI and COLEAD’s work on gender mainstreaming in safe trade facilitation. It will celebrate success stories from STDF projects that demonstrate how gender mainstreaming has translated into practical outcomes on the ground and contributed to more inclusive, effective and sustainable results.
