The purpose of this PPG was to strengthen food safety risk analysis (FSRA) capacity of Latin American countries by sharing expertise and experiences through South-South cooperation.

The PPG resulted in a project proposal focused on:

  • South-South cooperation to transfer knowledge and expertise on FSRA;
  • A hybrid FSRA learning model consisting of online courses focused on technical concepts, in-person training focused on the practical application of the technical concepts and a mentoring programme with follow-up actions to ensure adequate implementation and impact; and
  • In agreement with individual country needs, development and implementation of specific FSRA support projects/programmes aiming to modernise food inspection systems, conduct risk assessment studies and strengthen risk communication.
