Sidney Suma

Sidney Suma is a plant pathologist by training with a Master of Agriculture degree from the University of Sydney, Australia and Bsc in Agriculture from the Papua New Guinea University of Technology. He started his career in Biosecurity and Trade Facilitation in 2000 with the National Agriculture Quarantine and Inspection Authority in Papua New Guinea. In 2002, he joined the Land Resources Division of the Secretariat of Pacific Community. He became the Team Leader of the Biosecurity and Trade Support Group within the SPC-LRD and the Executive Secretary of the Pacific Plant Protection Organisation. He specialises in biosecurity, trade facilitation, capacity development and institutional strengthening, project management, Invasive Alien Species prevention and management.
