Phyllis Githaiga

Phyllis Githaiga is Chief Inspector at Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service (KEPHIS) which is the NPPO of Kenya. She is a graduate of the University of Nairobi (UON) where she received BSc in Agriculture and currently finalizing her MSc in Agricultural and Applied Economics. She also holds a post graduate Diploma in Business management. Phyllis has worked in the UON as a research assistant in plant Science and crop protection department and other projects as data analyst. Later she worked in the Ministry of Agriculture as crops officer, horticultural officer and marketing officer before joining KEPHIS as an inspector. Phyllis is currently working in the Trade and Standards department where she has been coordinating all matters related to trade and standards in the corporation. Other roles include managing the National SPS plant health enquiry point, responding to all SPS enquiries by stakeholders, trade negotiations, coordinate national input in the ISPMs and participates in the WTO National committees (SPS, TBT and TF) among others
